This ratcheted inline strainer is used to join two wires. The wire is fed through the center of the ratchet spindle and tightened with a Ratcheting Tensioner Handle (The Handle is NOT included).

An in-line wire strainer is your tensioning devices on your fence.  They are what keep your fence tight and allow you to re-tension the wire should the need arise.  This type of tensioner is called in-line because you cut the wire to install it in the middle of the line of fence. You use 1 in-line wire strainer on every wire. An in-line wire strainer will keep 4000’ of high tensile wire tight.  You tighten the in-line using a ratchet handle.   For every end, turn or stop decrease the footage by 500’.  So that means if you are building a 6 wire high tensile fence you may need more than 6 strainers in your fence.  The placement of the in-line wire strainers depends on the configuration of your fence.
